Dr. Imane Morjane is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Public Health Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE. Her research focuses on elucidating the genetic underpinnings of complex diseases at the population level.
Imane obtained a Master’s degree in Health Sciences from Aix-Marseille University in France. Subsequently, she earned a PhD from Hassan II University of Casablanca in Morocco. During her doctoral studies, she collaborated with her research team to explore the association between candidate gene variants and metabolic diseases in the Moroccan population. Additionally, she conducted in silico analyses to predict the structural and
functional implications of coding gene variants on proteins.
Beyond her research, Imane has a passion for teaching and has over five years of experience instructing biology to students of various ages, from K-12 to university level.
In her current role, Imane is dedicated to leveraging the genetic and genomic data from the UAE Health Future Study to identify genetic risk factors associated with prevalent diseases, particularly metabolic non-communicable diseases, within the Emirati population.
