Dr. Emad Farrag

Dr. Emad Farrag is a UK trained senior consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist who has recently joined the Brain Health Center at Global Care Hospital as Director of Children’s Services & Head of Psychiatry department. He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, UK. He was also registered as an Approved Clinician of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Dr Farrag completed his training in general psychiatry at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, U.K, then went on to complete his higher specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, UK.

As a consultant, Dr Farrag led the development of child and adolescent services at one of the largest private mental health service providers in the United Kingdom and was instrumental in the development and delivery of integrated child and adolescent psychiatric services in residential educational settings for children with autism. Dr Farrag is a strong believer in building solid relationships with educational institutes (school and universities), providing support, consultations, and training with the aim of early detection of mental disorders in early life and ensuring the best possible outcomes for students both academically and personally. He also has extensive experience of working as a consultant within the UK National Health Service.

During his time in Abu Dhabi, he has previously worked at The Maudsley Clinic as well as more recently The American Center for Psychiatry & Neurology (ACPN) where he was the Clinical lead for the Adult ADHD Service where he developed the first Adult ADHD care pathway in Abu Dhabi. He has also been involved closely with ADEK in determining Special Educational Needs (SEN) & People of Determination (PoD).

Dr Farrag has a special interest in ADHD across a lifetime (Child, Adolescent and Adult ADHD) & is a Founding member and Executive Board member of the United Kingdom ADHD Partnership (UKAP) and a member of the UKAP Training Subcommittee. He has published numerous articles about ADHD, comorbidities, and consensus guidelines in this field. He has also been keen on advocating early detection and intervention in childhood and transition into adult ADHD. He led and developed a specialist clinic for Adult ADHD in the UK with one of the largest private mental health providers as well as being the clinical lead of the first Specialised Adult ADHD Care Pathway in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
