Dr. Syed Javaid is a consultant psychiatrist with expertise in later-life Psychiatry. He is chairman of the Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences Department at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. Previously, he was a substantive consultant and Associate Medical Director in the National Health Service, United Kingdom.
Dr Javaid is a fellow of The Royal College of Psychiatrists UK and holds a Master’s degree in Psychiatry from Cardiff University. He has held the National Health Service UK’s Level 2 Clinical Excellence Award since 2017.
Dr Javaid has published more than 35 peer-reviewed articles, and his research interest is in dementia, carer support, and socioeconomic barriers in access to mental health care.
