Dr. Zain Al Yafei is leading SAKINA with the firm belief that mental health care should be accessible, comprehensive, and empathetic. His extensive background in Leadership and genuine passion for excellence have been the driving force behind our organization’s rapid success.

Dr. Zain brings over 18 years of healthcare experience in leading and supporting healthcare programs. In his previous role as Chief Medical Officer at Purelab, he was overseeing the medical operations and clinical systems across the laboratories to develop strategies to enhance service delivery and improve the scope of work. He was instrumental in evaluating and optimizing the care management approach, patient, and customer satisfaction, as well as developing processes to assure the appropriateness of lab services.

Prior to his role at Purelab, Dr. Zain was the Director of Pharmacy and Allied Health at SEHA, overseeing all allied health services including psychology, social workers, occupational health therapists, and speech-language therapists. He also managed the standardization of care, workforce planning, training, and upskilling programs, and was a member of the DoH COVID-19 Silver task force. Dr. Zain’s previous experience includes his work at SKMC as Technical Director and Deputy Service Lead.

Dr. Zain holds a certification from the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology, a PhD in Immunology from the University of Bristol, UK, a MSc in Immunology and Immunogenetics from the University of Manchester, UK, and a BSc from the University of Utah, USA.
