Dr. Elizabeth Davis is the Clinical Director of Addiction Care at Cambridge Health Alliance and Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School. With state funding Dr. Davis has built a low barrier Bridge Clinic at The Cambridge Hospital serving patients referred from the emergency rooms, inpatient units, and community agencies as well as patients who self present in need of immediate management of substance use disorders. She is currently developing an inpatient Addiction Consultation team that will assist staff in managing withdrawal and complications of substance use on medical, Labor and Delivery and psychiatric units and offering support to patients as they transition back to the community.
She completed residencies in both Primary Care Medicine and Psychiatry, as well as fellowship training in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. Boarded in Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Neurology, and Addiction Medicine, she delivers integrated medical, addiction and behavioral health care in the primary care setting.
Early on in her residency training, Dr. Davis realized that patients with mental illness and substance use disorders rarely received the longitudinal, multidisciplinary care required to adequately address their complex problems. Her mission since has been to integrate both medical and psychiatric care into clinical practice.
Dr. Davis has worked in multiple settings including tertiary care centers, state hospitals, prisons, and community health centers. She is involved in medical student and residency training in both Medicine and Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and promotes the importance of providing equitable care to patients with comorbid addiction.
